Insurance Loss Accounting

We bring to Insurance Carriers and their Insureds valuable expertise developed over many years of service. From the initial contact, we devote the resources necessary to move the evaluation process forward. Contact within 24 hours and documenting communications are standards we practice.

We deal directly with both the Insurer’s and Insured’s Representatives. While our technical expertise is significant, of equal importance is our ability to effectively communicate technical issues in a non-technical way. This is crucial in helping Insurers, Insureds, and their representatives identify and understand differences of approach and opinion, a critical step in moving claims toward resolution.

No-Fault Benefits

First-Party Work Loss
Our professionals possess a comprehensive understanding of the No-Fault statute and case law as it pertains to the determination of No-fault work loss benefits. We handle complex issues related to self-employed persons, including new and seasonal businesses, appropriate methodology to determine benefits based on entity-type, extra expenses, post-accident operations, and application of offsets. We possess a strong understanding of case law which dictates the manner that various scenarios should be addressed. We also handle work loss claims involving employees with non-traditional pay structures such as commissions, tips, overtime, profit-sharing, and seasonal jobs.

Survivors’ Loss
We are experts in the determination of survivors’ loss benefits for dependents of persons involved in fatal motor vehicle accidents. We are knowledgeable of case law that establishes how various scenarios should be addressed. This includes the identification of specific documents to determine contributions of tangible economic value the deceased provided to his dependents, replacement services, and applicable offsets. We work with the deceased dependents and  their representatives to assist in determining the benefits owed.

Excess Work Loss
In complex cases involving damages that exceed first-party no-fault limitations, our professionals offer valuable expertise and experience.  Our analysis involves the research of an individual’s earnings and employment records in conjunction with statistical peer review studies, governmental studies, and objective resources. We have knowledge of appropriate case law that dictates how losses should be computed along with allowable offsets.  Additionally, we critique reports prepared by other experts with respect to economic assumptions relied upon to prepare their calculations. We work with the insurance companies’ representatives to offer guidance and opinions of the claims submitted.

Attendant Care
We provide clients assistance in verifying actual expenses and overhead costs for attendant care services and agencies. We also reconcile attendant care payments to payment obligations, identifying duplicate invoicing, and offer guidance on the reasonableness of hourly rates.

Business Insurance Losses

Business Interruption, Extra Expense, and Inventory Losses
Our professionals have extensive knowledge of insurance policies for loss of income, extra expense, and inventory losses.  This also includes out-of-state claims and losses due to natural disasters. Our knowledge and communication skills assist clients in accurately determining losses and applying policy provisions. We effectively handle claims for several types of businesses and quickly identify the predominant issues of each case.

Litigation Support

Our considerable experience provides the basis for developing appropriate document and discovery requests to address the issues unique to each case. We assist counsel in preparing for depositions to elicit the critical information that bears directly on damages issues.

The documents and information obtained through focused discovery provides a specific basis for the development of objective damage models. Our success is due to thorough preparation, well-supported analysis, and our ability to communicate complex issues and analysis effectively.

When attempts to settle the dispute fail, we testify, both in deposition and at trial, to advocate our opinion. Our professional staff has testified on a variety of different cases. This experience, along with our technical expertise, is crucial in persuasively presenting our opinions to a judge or jury.
